Thai Driving License:

If you decide to stay in Thailand you should obtain a Thai License. A foreign License holds no weight in Thailand and an International License is only accepted as long as its valid for 3 months. You must apply for your Thai Driving License in the province that you live in. Applications must be made in person and most of the registration offices have English speaking staff.

What you need:

  • Affidavit of residence executed at your Embassy or Consulate
  • Work permit
  • 2 photos
  • Copy of passport and visa page
  • Medical report
  • Processing fee

Note: Some insurance companies will put in fine print that you must be a holder of a Current Driver's License (Thai Driver's License) and not an International Driver's License to claim insurance if you have an accident.
